CNA 2025 Activity Report Now Available

As the governing body of Calypso technology, Calypso Networks Association (CNA) was founded with one simple aim: to enable all transport and mobility operators to deliver the best possible ticketing experience to their customers. Over the last twenty years, we have created a vibrant community in which our members are at the heart of CNA. They define and drive every aspect of the organisation.

Our 2025 Activity Report shares insight into the ongoing achievements and highlights of our organisation as we worked to advance standardised, open, accessible and sustainable ticketing systems:

• The ambitious OpenSAM project made significant progress during its extended specification development phase.
• The Eclipse Keyple open-source SDK has helped to consolidate its maintainability across diverse environments, as well as its suitability as a technical solution for integrating Calypso into ticketing terminals or distributed systems.
• Our Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) working group, established in 2024, began the second phase of its mission, focusing on operational implementation within the context of pilot projects.
• “Coffee with CNA” provided our members with a regular informal virtual meeting space to ask questions and share challenges directly to the permanent team.

CNA’s diverse membership is one of its most unique and valuable assets, and we are delighted to see this is continuing to grow. We’ve seen innovative deployments expanding the Calypso footprint across Africa and South America, and meanwhile a number of dynamic use cases for Calypso are emerging beyond the transport sector, harnessing the power of open and secure standards in sectors including access control, parking and EV Charging.

CNA is defined by cooperation between our community of members with the shared mission of advancing the contactless ticketing world. Our specifications emerge from the collaborative work of our technical committees, to which all members are invited to contribute, and it is through these groups that we continue our commitment to our values openness, efficiency, excellence, security and innovation.
