As a member-driven community, CNA facilitates collaboration through strategic working groups. By joining these groups, members have a valuable opportunity to communicate their needs to the smart ticketing community and help refine the technology to suit the practical requirements of organisations worldwide.
CNA’s strategic priorities are organised within four working groups
WG1 – Improving and developing Calypso’s reference specification, to provide an appropriate solution to transport operator needs.
WG2 – Favouring interoperability between transport networks, and amongst networks, to ensure that any Calypso portable object can work with any Calypso terminal.
WG3 – Promoting Calypso technology worldwide and participating in national and international standardisation initiatives to encourage industry best practice.
WG4 – Supporting the promotion of Calypso and its benefits through dedicated events, communications and marketing.
The CNA team provides ongoing dedicated resource and expertise to progress the key activities within each working group.
WG1 is open to all CNA members and has a number of dedicated technical committees. Each technical committee is dedicated to a specific priority and is an opportunity for members to collaborate on requirements, agree best practice and secure agreement, prior to submitting it to the CNA board for approval.
WG1 is structured to facilitate flexible participation, so members can contribute based on their relevant experience, whether that is by reviewing a draft technical document or actively contributing to each regular meeting. All meetings can be joined virtually, promoting ease of access.
Active Technical Committees (TCs) are:
TC Card
Exploring Calypso’s range of products to support the latest ticketing requirements and customer needs, as well as defining plans for functional tests
TC Terminal
Publishing requirements for the programming of Calypso terminals and defining plans for functional tests
TC Secure Access Module (SAM) and Security
Exploring the overarching objective of the Calypso Open SAM project: defining the management principles of a new SAM policy, ensuring it is consistent with the openness of Calypso cards developed for terminals
TC Interoperability
Exploring the specifications of Calypso’s interoperable application, Hoplink and publishing recommendations for programmers
TC Mobile
Defining the development of the Calypso Applet in mobile secure environments and Java Cards, alongside managing the functionality behind the Calypso HCE mobile solution
TC ABT (Account-Based Ticketing)
Exploring how to deliver ABT across a range of solutions including cards, mobile ticketing and open payments, and enhancing Calypso’s role in ABT
Access to these technical committees is subject to a registration request to [email protected] and are available through the WG1 portal
WG2 is comprised of members of CNA who have signed the Hoplink charter, and led by the Chairperson of the Hoplink college. WG2 is open to all Adhering and Effective members who intend to join the Hoplink community, either by implementing Hoplink within their network, or as a provider of related solutions.
WG3 and WG4 are managed by CNA’s expert team to drive forward promotional activities for the organisation. All CNA members are welcome to support CNA’s promotional activities for the greater good of the association.
