Document Summary
This document presents the CNA evaluation process of the Reader Layer of a terminal.This evaluation is not a product certification. Its goal is to assure the end user of the product that the Vendor took into account the requirements published by CNA to help software developers to correctly manage all types of cards and SAMs by a smartcard reader, at the lower level of the transaction.
To facilitate the development of Calypso applications in a ticketing terminal, CNA provides developers with three documents that define the requirements to ensure optimum operational performance, interoperability, modularity and conformance:
- The Reader Layer Requirements which covers the requirements of the lowest level of the transaction related to the management of all types of cards and SAMs by a smartcard reader.
- The Calypso Layer Requirements which covers the specific requirements for the management of Calypso cards and SAMs in strict compliance with Calypso specifications.
- The Ticketing Layer Requirements which covers requirements on the use of the Calypso high-level API and best practices to follow in a Calypso ticketing system.
A mid-term objective of CNA is to define certification processes based on a technical evaluation for, at least, the two first layers. In the meantime, CNA would like to offer an evaluation of the Reader layer based on a declaration by the Vendor, to assure the buyer of a certain level of compliance with the requirements.
