20th anniversary sponsors: find out why they have supported us

Why have you chosen to support the organisation’s 20th anniversary event?

Pierre Chassigneux, Cartes Bancaires:

“The world of card payments and the world of ticketing are intimately linked: the technologies are similar to those we use in the CB system, including the offline “card-based ticketing” and online “account-based ticketing” approaches. We are proud to contribute to the development of Calypso standards and to join them in celebrating this milestone.”

Björn Scharfen, Infineon:

“Full commitment to open standards is one of Infineon’s principles. This also applies to public transport, as only open standards can support the seamless ticketing needs of the industry and consumers. We value CNA as a non-profit organization that brings together members of the transportation, mobility and services communities to exchange ideas, experiences and requirements in order to define sustainable and innovative transport solutions.”

Maurizio Locatelli, Interparking:

“As part of the mobility community, we are proud to support CNA as they develop technology that champions inter-modality and interoperability between different transport modes.”

Eveline Inderhees, nagels:

“We are proud to be a long-term partner of CNA. This is a huge milestone in your history and stands for all the hard work and achievements which have been so transformative in the field of transport and mobility. The idea of creating a network and a mobility system which is usable worldwide, and which always strives for innovation, is something we can all get behind.”

Cécile Araujo, Calmell:

“Calmell has been a Calypso licensee since 2003, and we have been deeply involved from the beginning with Calypso deployment, both technically and commercially. We joined as a CNA at the end of 2022 and are delighted to support the organization’s 20th anniversary, crowning two decades of shared history.”

Maria Ramirez, Thales:

“Thales Digital Identity and Security has been a proud member of CNA since its creation, and as a member of the CNA board, we are thrilled to support CNA’s key role in the evolution of the transport market.”

Grégoire Guetin, Elitt:

“We are proud to support CNA in its role as an association that believes in the benefits of the evaluation and certification of products used in transport ticketing.”

Mario Nsingi Pedro, ENBI

As a Gold member of CNA¸ we believe that our support is important, as it gives us the opportunity to do our part, not only in shaping the association’s direction and priorities, but also to contribute towards a better future for the public transport ticketing industry.”

Louis Brosse, Wizway Solutions

“We are proud to support Calypso’s 20th anniversary. At 20 years old, it is still young, but strong and dedicated to the continued improvement of standards for contactless mobility and services. Calypso is also the most “mobile friendly” contactless standard available today.”

What innovative ticketing solutions have you created using Calypso technology?

 Eveline Inderhees, nagels:

“We are heavily involved in the evolution of ticketing, creating new offers based on Calypso technology. Our product portfolio offers two paper-based products from the Calypso system: Calypso Light and Calypso Basic. We’re very proud to be one of the first companies offering the Calypso Light ticket in a commercial environment, and the first company worldwide to introduce a fully-certified Calypso Basic ticket, in March 2023.”

Cécile Araujo, Calmell:

“We have produced full contactless or dual interface cards and we’ve been able to personalise cards that will allow passengers use different types of transport systems, thanks to Hoplink. We’ve also been able to personalise cards for multiapplication purposes.”

Björn Scharfen, Infineon:

“For more than a decade, Infineon has provided semiconductor solutions for Calypso solutions, such as Calypso Prime and Calypso Light. Recently, we introduced a new chip, CALYPSO™ move, which is the first secured memory for contactless ticketing based on the Calypso® basic specification. This is perfectly suited for the fast growing market for Limited-use tickets (LUT) and allows manufacturers to meet the specific requirements of each transport operator and authority, offering a more secure and open prepaid ticketing solution. Since it can be re-loaded at vending machines or through a smartphone, it is reusable, therefore optimising resources and helping to protect the environment.”

 Maurizio Locatelli, Interparking:

“Calypso technology has helped us develop the PCard, a parking card now deployed in six countries, used by over 500,000 clients daily.”

Maria Ramirez, Thales:

“At Thales, we have been using Calypso technology since the beginning, developing and deploying our own Calypso Operating system (Gemalto G1) on our contactless cards. Gemalto G1 has since been deployed on over 40 million cards and won the CNA innovation award in 2015. Additionally, we have implemented Calypso Prime PKI, and were the first to be certified to do so, receiving a nomination for the best innovation award in 2022.”

 Mario Nsingi Pedro, ENBI:

As we have only recently joined CNA, we haven’t yet implemented any innovative solutions using Calypso technology, however we are excited for what we will be able to implement in the future.”

 Louis Brosse, Wizway Solutions

Thanks to the versatility of the Calypso standard, we can provide a full range of mobile services. This includes Calypso card top up, Calypso card emulation in MaaS apps, and Calypso for mobile wallets. As a result, we can provide customers with the personalised digital experiences they expect today.”

What role do CNA and open ticketing standards have in supporting your long-term aims?

Eveline Inderhees, nagels:

“Our vision is to be a leading provider of solutions that ensure people have access to travel. With the support of the CNA and the associated ticket operating systems, we can achieve this goal together. We believe that our ticket developments, with the support of the CNA community, will lead the way into the mobile future.”

Cécile Araujo, Calmell:

“CNA guarantees the interoperability of portable objects among various systems and also help readers to manage cards from different suppliers. In addition, CNA provides a vital framework from which to create new products, such as Calypso cards based on Java technology. As an open standards body, CNA regulates the use of Calypso technology and empowers the community to control and evolve the smart ticketing ecosystem for a sustainable future.”

 Björn Scharfen, Infineon:

“At Infineon, we combine entrepreneurial success with responsible action to make life easier, safer, and greener. Semiconductors are crucial to solve the energy challenges of our time and shape the digital transformation. This is why Infineon is committed to actively driving decarbonisation and digitalisation in which public transportation play an important role. Open standards are crucial to enable secure, convenient, and interoperable ticketing solutions with the necessary transparency and trust. They avoid vendor lock-in and contribute to fair competition and sourcing flexibility. As a global semiconductor leader in power systems and IoT, together with our partners like CNA, we can enable game changing solutions for green and efficient energy, and clean and safe mobility.”

 Maurizio Locatelli, Interparking:

“Through the work of the various working groups at CNA, the evolution of card technology into the digital era is guaranteed. This allows operators and service providers to continue to serve customers across the globe”

 Maria Ramirez, Thales:

“CNA and Thales DIS have developed a strong relationship ever since CNA’s creation 20 years ago. In this time, we have developed a mutual beneficially relationship in which we collaborate and share knowledge and insight. Thanks to CNA’s key role and our membership, we have access to the latest Calypso specifications for the development, deployment and certification of our cards – becoming market pioneers as a result.  Additionally, we are also able to meet our customers at CNA events, which strengthens our customer relationships.”

 Grégoire Guetin, Elitt:

“CNA is the basis for the assessment and certification of devices that drive us to fulfil our long term aims.”

 Mario Nsingi Pedro, ENBI:

“We are looking forward to using Calypso technologies as we think this is the best fit for our ticketing needs and are confident that it is the best mobility ticketing system available.”
