Meet the Advisory Board: The People Powering Calypso Forward

Calypso is proudly developed for the transport ticketing community, by the transport ticketing community. And while this obviously relates to the public transport operators and authorities that deliver front end services to passengers, it’s vital that this includes stakeholders throughout the entire transport ticketing technology stack.

The CNA Advisory Board of Adhering Members is an elected group that represents technology suppliers, system manufacturers, and consultants, providing valuable industry insight and practical experience from across the ticketing value chain, supporting CNA’s vision of a smarter, innovative and sustainable ticketing ecosystem.

The current five-person Advisory Board was elected in June as part of our annual General Assembly. We asked each delegate to share in their own words, why they support the Calypso Standard.

Florent Cetier – Digimobee

Florent Cetier is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Digimobee, a digital mobility solutions provider specialising in mobile ticketing and digital solutions for public transport. His expertise lies within ticketing technologies and mobility ecosystems, focusing on the design and development of solutions covering the entire ticketing journey. Florent is particularly involved in the development of scalable, interoperable and secure solutions that support the digital transformation of public transport and enable the deployment of Mobility as a Service (MaaS).

“Supporting the Calypso Networks Association means helping to build a more open, interoperable, and sustainable mobility ecosystem. This progressive work is carried out all whilst benefiting from being involved in an international network, with recognized technical experts, which gives the ability to influence the standards that shape the future of the transport ticketing ecosystem.”

Tahmina Amin-Nawabi – Famoco

Tahmina Amin-Nawabi is Head of Product – Transport, at Famoco, a provider of secure, remotely managed and connected terminals for fare validation, fare inspection, and fare payment. She brings deep expertise in public transport planning, operation and maintenance, fare collection systems, and product strategy to help deliver major transit projects around the world.

“Famoco supports Calypso Networks Association and Eclipse Keyple™ as it brings clarity to the industry for integrating ticketing systems both vertically and horizontally. The organisation has this beautiful and powerful capacity to bring the ecosystem together with one common goal in mind: the customer experience. It’s not about the technology; it’s not about optimizing the industry; it’s about creating an outstanding experience for riders.

“I joined the CNA Advisory Board to help promote both the organisation and the Calypso Standard where they can deliver the greatest value. It is also an opportunity to share Famoco’s experience with Keyple™ gained through numerous projects. We’re able to support the development of practical, field-ready terminal certification, and bring fresh perspectives informed by our close involvement with emerging payment technologies. CNA was made by the industry and for the industry after all, and I think that now is a great time to go back to basics with addressing industry integration needs. »

“Throughout my career, I have been a strong advocate for open technologies and industry collaboration. The Calypso standard embodies these principles through its open standard approach, its commitment to interoperability, and its fully ISO-compliant architecture. Joining the Advisory Board was a natural step for me, as it provides an opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution of an ecosystem that benefits the entire public transport community. By bringing together a wide range of industry players and solutions, Calypso helps create an open market where innovation can thrive, and passengers ultimately benefit from seamless mobility experiences.”

“Calypso’s open standard approach and comprehensive interoperability framework have helped establish a truly multi-source ecosystem for public transport ticketing. Through its detailed technical specifications, certification processes and interoperability testing, Calypso enables transport operators to benefit from greater supplier choice, stronger security and reduced dependency on single vendors.

Joining the Advisory Board provides an opportunity to share IDEMIA’s experience in delivering transport projects around the world, help shape the future evolution of the standard, and support the development of open, interoperable ticketing solutions that deliver long-term resilience and cost competitiveness for transport networks.”

Cristiano Pardo – HID Global

Cristiano Pardo is Senior Engineering Director of the new Mobility Business Unit, formed through the merger of the former HID Global EMS Business Unit and Calmell Group. With more than 25 years experience in the smart card industry, Cristiano supports the market’s evolution and the smooth migration of ticketing systems toward a more sustainable digital approach, combining security with end users’ growing demand for a simpler travel experience through smartphones.

“Our motivation for supporting the Calypso Networks Association is rooted in a strong commitment to the long-term sustainability, openness, and independence of the Calypso ecosystem. We aim to contribute constructively, promote inclusive decision-making, and help ensure that Calypso remains an open, fair, interoperable, and future-proof standard for public transport.

Joining the Advisory Board provides an opportunity to contribute to three key priorities. Firstly, we support a fair and competitive ecosystem where certified suppliers are on a level playing field, encourages greater adoption, innovation, and alignment with tender requirements. Secondly, we want to reinforce CNA’s position as a trusted technical reference point that can help stakeholders implement specifications consistently, reducing fragmentation and building confidence across the market. Finally, we encourage the digital transformation of Calypso by leveraging HID’s experience in deploying digital credentials, mobile ticketing solutions, and wallet-enabled services in major transport networks around the world.”
